Monument to Peter Fechter

    Peter Fechter - German bricklayer who was born in 1944. He was killed by GDR border guards in 1962 while trying to climb over the Berlin Wall and the fall in the western part of the city. Since then, the place of death of a young man lay flowers in memory not only about it, but other innocent victims of political fragmentation of Germany.

    Today, the monument is a circular stone column Karl Biedermann, which is on the spot death of a young man. Stella has been installed on a basalt site in early 1999. On the column bears the inscription: "From 1961 to 1990 he was on this street Berlin Wall. August 17, 1962 there died young worker Peter Fechter ... "
