    Museum of Fine Arts named after AS Pushkin - one of the most famous Russian museums.

    Laid the first stone of the Museum August 17, 1898 The building project was selected on a competitive basis. The winner was selected the project architect AG Klein. It was assumed that the museum should resemble an ancient temple, so the main building of the museum on the sublime іanіchnay podium decorated with a colonnade along the facade.     First, the museum was created as a teaching and support and is administered by the University of Moscow.
    The event took place May 31, 1912 in the presence of Emperor Nicholas II. The museum already had a collection of original paintings, drawings and sculptures.

    In 1923 it was decided to organize on the basis of the old museum Museum of Western painting. In the same year the Museum brought from the jurisdiction of the University, and it became a state.

    During the Great Patriotic War, most of the funds were evacuated to Novosibirsk and Solikamsk. Since 1944, restoration work began on repairing the building was badly damaged during the war.

    Currently, the museum is the main cultural venues in Moscow, regularly hold exhibitions of world significance. The museum is a must-see destination of each excursion program.
